Padmakshi Yoga is pleased to offer the following classes:

 Yoga

Yoga classes are currently offered:

Wednesday mornings at 9-10 am (Restorative Hatha Yoga- All Levels),

Friday afternoons at 4-5 pm (Restorative Yoga- All Levels)

and at 5-6 pm (Various Styles- All Levels),

and

some Saturdays at 2:30 pm (Sivananda Hatha Yoga-All Levels) and

3:45 pm (Restorative Hatha Yoga- All Levels)

Classes are held at The Authentic Living Center in Troy, 1640 Axtell Road,1 Street East of the Whole Foods Plaza (Near Coolidge and Maple). Your first class is free of charge. The Sivananda yoga class is based on the system of yoga as taught and developed by H.H. Sri Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnu-devananda. The emphasis is on hatha yoga, relaxation, and some pranayama. Learn to expand on your practice from a series of core postures. Learn sun salutation, shoulder-stand, plough, triangle, camel, tree, eagle, spinal twist, forward bend and many others. Beginners practice modifications and can go at their own pace.

 You may drop-in to the yoga class any day when it is offered. Check -in at the front desk and let them know it is your first class. The yoga room is on the lower level. Yoga classes are complementary for those enrolled at the same time in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course. For a map giving the location of the center, please click here:

Monthly Drop-In Meditation

At the Authentic Living Center:

Monthly drop-in meditation classes are being offered on a Sunday, and will focus on a particular theme each month to help you with your own ongoing meditation practice. The style of meditation practiced is Vipassana (mindfulness). This is a style of meditation which involves paying attention in the present moment. For example, using the breath as the focus of your attention, without trying to change it, just observing. This practice involves being a silent witness to things such as the breath, the sensations in the body, contents of the mind etc., in order to develop awareness and insight. May be helpful for stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain. (Might also involve walking meditation).

 

There is no fee for these classes, although donations are accepted.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course (MBSR)

This course is currently offered about 3-4 times per year, and incorporates meditation and gentle yoga to help teach you how to cope better with stress. All group yoga classes are free to those enrolled in the MBSR course.
