How do you learn to meditate? When you meditate the thinking mind begins to slow down. You learn to meditate by quietly bringing your attention to your breathing. Each time your mind wanders off the breath, you gently guide it back. This is also known as mindfulness training. Mindfulness is simply the act of paying attention in the present moment. Meditation helps to control your attention and develop present-focused awareness. The key is to quiet down the mental chatter as you meditate. This can help you in many areas of your life, by developing peaceful awareness, mental stamina and discipline. Mindfulness meditation is called vipassana meditation.
